Privacy Policy

Last Updated: July 21, 2026

1. Introduction

Welcome to Happytooth ("we," "our," or "us"), the developer of the mobile application "Bluetooth Auto Connect" (the "App"). We are committed to protecting your privacy and ensuring you have a positive experience when using the App and our website.

Our Privacy Commitment: The App is designed with privacy as a core principle. Your personal data — device names, MAC addresses, profiles, settings, and location — stays on your device and is never transmitted to us or anyone else. The only data that leaves your device is anonymous, aggregated usage and crash statistics (see Sections 2.5 and 6), which you can turn off at any time in the app.

This Privacy Policy explains:

  • What information the app accesses on your device
  • How that information is used
  • Your rights regarding your data
  • How we comply with privacy regulations

2. Information We Access

2.1 Bluetooth Device Information

The app accesses the following information to provide Bluetooth management functionality:

  • Bluetooth Device Names: Names of paired and nearby Bluetooth devices
  • MAC Addresses: Hardware addresses of Bluetooth devices for connection management
  • Connection Status: Whether devices are connected, disconnected, or available
  • Device Types: Audio profiles (A2DP, HFP, LE Audio)
  • Pairing Status: Which devices are paired with your phone

Storage: This information is stored locally on your device only and is never transmitted to external servers.

2.2 Location Information (Smart Switch)

Location permissions are requested for the following purposes:

  • Bluetooth Scanning (Android Requirement): Android requires location permission to scan for nearby Bluetooth devices due to the possibility of inferring location from Bluetooth beacons.
  • Geofencing (Smart Switch): If you enable "Smart Switch" for a profile using location triggers, the app monitors your location to automatically activate Bluetooth profiles while the app is in use.

Local Processing Only: All location data is processed entirely on your device. Your coordinates and location history are never sent to our servers, stored externally, or shared with third parties.

2.3 WiFi and Network State

To support WiFi-based Smart Switch triggers, the app monitors:

  • WiFi SSID: The name of the network you are currently connected to.
  • Network Connectivity: Changes in your connection state to trigger profile switches.

This information is used solely to match your current network against your configured triggers. We do not track your network history or store a list of networks you visit.

2.4 App Configuration Data

The following information is stored locally on your device:

  • Profile names and icons you create
  • Device assignments to profiles
  • Device roles (Primary, Optional, Fallback)
  • App settings and preferences

2.5 Analytics and App Improvement

To improve app performance and reliability, we collect anonymous analytics data:

  • App usage statistics (features used, scenes created)
  • Widget and Quick Settings tile usage (when added, removed, or tapped)
  • Connection success and failure rates
  • Error reports and crash logs
  • Device types and Android versions (anonymous)
  • Performance metrics (connection duration, app responsiveness)

Important: All analytics data is:

  • Completely anonymous - no personally identifiable information
  • Aggregated across all users
  • Used solely for bug fixing and app improvements
  • Processed by Firebase Analytics (Google)

Opt-out: You can turn analytics off at any time in the app: Settings → Privacy → "Share anonymous analytics". Turning the toggle off stops all analytics and crash reporting immediately.

3. How We Use Information

All information accessed by the App is used solely for the following purposes:

  • Bluetooth Management: Connect, disconnect, and manage your Bluetooth devices
  • Profile Switching: Enable quick switching between different device configurations
  • Connection Monitoring: Display real-time connection status of your devices
  • App Functionality: Provide the core features of device management and automation
  • App Improvement: Anonymous usage statistics and crash reports to fix bugs and improve stability (enabled by default; you can opt out at any time — see Section 2.5)

Your Personal Data Is Not Transmitted: Your Bluetooth device names, MAC addresses, profiles, settings, and location are never sent to external servers or third parties. There is no cloud backup and no user accounts. The only data that leaves your device is the anonymous, aggregated analytics described in Sections 2.5 and 6 — it is not linked to your identity, and it is never sold or shared for advertising.

4. Data Storage and Security

4.1 Local Storage Only

All the data you create in the App — profiles, device assignments, and settings — is stored exclusively on your Android device using:

  • Android's secure local database (Room Database)
  • SharedPreferences for app settings
  • Standard Android security mechanisms

4.2 Data Security

We implement the following security measures:

  • Data is stored in your device's private app directory, inaccessible to other apps
  • Network access is used only to send the anonymous analytics and crash reports described in Sections 2.5 and 6 (and can be turned off in Settings → Privacy) — your profiles, device data, and location are never transmitted
  • No advertising or cross-app tracking SDKs — the only third-party SDK that transmits data is Firebase Analytics/Crashlytics (Google), used for anonymous app improvement
  • Compliance with Android security best practices

4.3 Data Deletion

You have complete control over your data:

  • Clear App Data: Go to Android Settings → Apps → Happytooth → Storage → Clear Data
  • Uninstall: Uninstalling the app permanently deletes all stored data
  • In-App Deletion: Delete individual profiles and device assignments within the app

5. Permissions Explained

The App requests the following Android permissions:

5.1 Bluetooth Permissions (Required)

  • BLUETOOTH: Connect to Bluetooth devices
  • BLUETOOTH_ADMIN: Manage Bluetooth connections
  • BLUETOOTH_CONNECT (Android 12+): Connect to paired devices
  • BLUETOOTH_SCAN (Android 12+): Scan for nearby Bluetooth devices

Why needed: Core functionality of the app requires managing Bluetooth connections.

5.2 Location Permission (Optional)

  • ACCESS_FINE_LOCATION: Required by Android for Bluetooth scanning

Why needed: Android requires this permission to scan for Bluetooth devices, even though we don't use your actual location.

Can be denied: You can still use the app with paired devices, but scanning for new devices will not work.

5.3 Notification Permission (Android 13+)

  • POST_NOTIFICATIONS: Show connection status notifications

Why needed: Display ongoing notifications when managing Bluetooth connections.

6. Third-Party Services

Analytics Services: We use Firebase Analytics (Google) to collect anonymous usage data for app improvement:

  • ✓ Firebase Analytics - Anonymous usage statistics and app behaviour
  • ✓ Firebase Crashlytics - Automatic crash reporting and diagnostics (device model, OS version, app version, crash stack traces)
  • ✓ Google Analytics 4 - Aggregated user behavior analysis

What we track:

  • Feature usage and user flows
  • Connection success/failure rates
  • App crashes and errors (via Firebase Crashlytics)
  • Device model, OS version, and app version (for crash context)
  • Performance metrics

What we do NOT track:

  • ❌ Personal information or identities
  • ❌ Bluetooth device names or MAC addresses
  • ❌ Location data
  • ❌ Your specific device configurations
  • ❌ Advertising or marketing data

Opting out: All of the above can be turned off at any time in the app via Settings → Privacy → "Share anonymous analytics" (see Section 2.5). We never sell this data or use it for advertising, and it cannot be linked back to you.

Google Play Services: The app may use standard Google Play Services APIs provided by Android, which are subject to Google's privacy policy. However, we do not intentionally send any data to Google beyond what is required for basic app functionality and the analytics described above.

7. Children's Privacy

The App does not collect any personal information from anyone, including children under 13 years of age. The app is designed for general use and does not target children specifically.

Since all personal data remains on the device and the only transmitted information is anonymous, aggregated statistics that cannot identify any user, there are no additional risks for younger users.

8. Your Privacy Rights

8.1 GDPR Rights (European Users)

If you are in the European Economic Area (EEA), you have the following rights:

  • Right to Access: All your data is accessible within the app at any time
  • Right to Erasure: Clear app data or uninstall to delete all information
  • Right to Data Portability: Not applicable — your personal data never leaves your device, and analytics data is anonymous and cannot be tied back to you
  • Right to Object: You control all personal data processing locally on your device, and you can stop analytics at any time via Settings → Privacy → "Share anonymous analytics"

8.2 CCPA Rights (California Users)

If you are a California resident, note that:

  • We do not sell your personal information
  • We do not collect personal information for commercial purposes
  • All data processing occurs locally on your device
  • You have full control to delete all app data at any time

8.3 Other Jurisdictions

Regardless of your location, Happytooth respects your privacy rights:

  • No collection or transmission of personal data — only anonymous, aggregated analytics, which you can turn off in the app
  • Complete control over your data
  • Ability to delete all data at any time
  • Transparent about permissions and data usage

9. Changes to This Privacy Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time to reflect changes in our practices or for legal and regulatory reasons. When we make changes:

  • We will update the "Last Updated" date at the top of this page
  • Significant changes will be announced in the app or on our website
  • Your continued use of the app after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy

We encourage you to review this Privacy Policy periodically.

July 21, 2026: The App was renamed from "Happytooth" to "Bluetooth Auto Connect" on Google Play (formerly "Happytooth"). The developer remains Happytooth, and no changes were made to our data practices as part of the rename.

10. Data Breaches

Since all personal data is stored locally on your device and the only transmitted data is anonymous, aggregated statistics:

  • There is no central database that could be breached
  • Your data security depends on your device's security
  • We recommend using device encryption and lock screen protection

If we become aware of any security vulnerability in the app itself, we will release an update promptly and notify users through the Google Play Store.

11. International Users

The App is available worldwide. Since all personal data processing occurs locally on your device:

  • No international transfers of personal data occur
  • Your personal data never leaves your device
  • Anonymous analytics data is processed by Firebase (Google) on infrastructure that may be located outside your country; it contains no personal information
  • Local data protection laws apply to your device storage

12. Contact Us
